Hospitality chair in beech wood – Bilba

The Hoxton Brussels: The New Way of Working in Retro Style

In the iconic Victoria Tower, a Brutalist landmark in Brussels, The Hoxton created a unique concept: “The Apartment.” These aren’t standard conference rooms, but event spaces and meeting rooms that feel like a cozy living room. Buni was commissioned to translate this vision into appropriate furniture that bridges the gap between professional functionality and a relaxed, home-like atmosphere.

Away from the sterile conference room

Designing a modern meeting room calls for a different approach. Companies are looking for inspiring spaces for brainstorming sessions and events. For The Hoxton, we selected the Bilba chair: a model with a black beech frame and a backrest made of Wiener wicker (rattan). This choice breaks away from the corporate look and adds a playful, ’70s retro vibe. It proves that commercial interior design doesn’t have to be cold and impersonal.

Comfort and Flexibility for Events

When setting up event spaces, flexibility is key. The layout often changes from boardroom style to theater-style seating or a cocktail reception.

Portability: The selected chairs are light enough for staff to move them quickly.
Long-term seating: Thanks to its upholstered seat in a warm rust color, the chair offers ample comfort for long meetings.

Acoustics and Ambiance in High-Ceilinged Spaces

The rooms at The Hoxton feature high ceilings and exposed concrete structures. To ensure the acoustics remain pleasant for speakers and guests, it’s essential to use soft materials. The combination of the fabric seating and the texture of the rattan provides sound absorption and a sense of intimacy.
